How to Repel Seven Kinds of Attacks Using the Armor of God

You will find a protective lesson in each of the seven concepts of the armor of light. Then you can identify the attack that it is designed to prevent. I gained new respect for the armor once I realized what it protects us from. 

• Truth protects you from deception. Deception comes from worldly philosophies, demonic lies, and the half-truths that abound in the culture. These all contradict the Word of God. Truth protects you from every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and His Word. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
• Your righteousness (right standing before God) comes through faith in Jesus Christ. It gives you confidence in God. It protects your heart from feelings of unworthiness and shame caused by the enemy's voice of accusation and condemnation. Such feelings hinder you from praying when you need God's help the most. That is often the case after a failure.
• The shoes of readiness guide your feet from the path of self-will into the path of God’s will.
• Faith in God’s promises protects your mind and emotions from the obsessive fire of disruptive thoughts. These thoughts are not your thoughts. The enemy shoots them like flaming arrows to stir up fear, worry, discouragement, despair, anger, etc. Faith quenches these concerns so you can move forward with your life and ministry.
• The hope of salvation (see 1 Thessalonians 5:8) gives you a confident expectation of salvation (victory) in every circumstance. Putting on your helmet replaces the defeated “victim mentality” of discouragement and despair with confidence and courage.
• Speaking the Word of God aloud is an offensive weapon that pushes back the enemy. It frees you from not knowing how to fight and gives you a weapon to defend yourself. By speaking the Word, you will take new ground for Jesus.
• Praying always with all kinds of prayer and supplication in the Spirit is your method of gaining victory before the battle. Learn to pray preemptively before the enemy blindsides you.
