Spiritually Connecting to God

Suppose you are invited to a wedding and drive to the venue. Normally, you park your car, enter, and sign the guest book along with the other guests.

If, on the other hand, you choose not to walk through the door, you will not be able to greet the bride and groom and partake of the festivities. Not because you did not receive the invitation, but because you did not walk through the door.

Just like for a wedding, God has given everyone an invitation to come to Him through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Door. If we step through the Door and accept Him as our Savior, we partake of God’s promises of righteousness, protection, and eternal reward.

God does not show favoritism or exclude anyone, regardless of their past behavior. (Whew!) If you ask Jesus to come into your heart and make you a partaker of the covenant blessings, He will.

Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior does not refer to giving up all your bad habits. It’s not about what you have done or will do, but receiving in your heart what Jesus has already done for you. (By the way, He’ll give you the power to overcome those things.)

Receiving Jesus means believing the simple truth that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Jesus went to the cross and died, willingly bearing in His own body the penalty of our sins. He took the punishment we deserved. But He was raised from the dead the third day, free from sin, and caught up into God’s presence as proof of our forgiveness!

Jesus did not come into this world to condemn you or anyone else. Rather, He came to forgive us and set us free from guilt and condemnation, so we can experience deep and unreserved heart-peace between us and God.

If you would like to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, it’s easy. (Or perhaps you once walked with God and your relationship has grown cold. It can be restored by recommitting yourself to the Lord.) Pray this simple prayer from your heart.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart you are God’s Son and that You died bearing the penalty of my sins. I repent of my sins and ask for Your forgiveness. Please give me a new beginning and a fresh start by erasing the record of my past mistakes. Thank You for forgiving me and declaring me righteous because of my faith in You. Come into my heart and make me a new creation. I take you now as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for reconciling me to God as my Father. Thank you for divine protection and for a home in heaven when I die. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer from your heart, you have been born again and are eligible for God’s best blessings. You are forgiven of your sins, and God has made you a new creation.

This means you are reconnected spiritually to God as your Father. You are no longer an “orphan spirit,” struggling and alone without a spiritual Father. As you draw near to Him, God will become the Father you may never have had. His resources become yours, and He will be a God to you. You are now a child of the one true King.

Connect with a good Bible-believing church, which will encourage you in your faith and teach you what it means to be born again of God. If you just prayed that prayer, please email me at [email protected]. I want to rejoice with you!
