Prayer to Overcome Bad Attitudes

O Lord, during my journey through this world I picked up bad attitudes, which I desire to put off and quit practicing. With Your help I rid myself of anger, hatred, impatience, a critical spirit, blasphemy, foul language, lying, bitterness, and unforgiveness. Holy Spirit, help me bring forth the fruit of the Spirit. I will walk in Your love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Scripture Affirmations

As one who is raised with Christ, I put off bad attitudes, such as anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, and filthy language out of my mouth. I do not lie to others, since I have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man, who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created me. (Colossians 3:8-10)

I put away all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking, along with all malice. And I choose to be kind to others, tenderhearted, forgiving them, even as God in Christ forgave me. (Ephesians 4:31-32)

With the help of the Holy Spirit abiding within me, I produce the fruit of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)
